Do any of you do Lapbooks? We just started Lapbooking this past month and I think I have found a true motivator for my kids! They love it! Alaina did a Dinosaur Lapbook and Cole is in the middle of the Civil War Lapbook. Fun! Fun! I thought I would share a few links with FREE Lapbook pages. Angie Robbins

Lapbooking looks like so much fun. I just haven’t gotten to do it. I have 2 lapbooks from “Hands of a Child”.
The only problem I seem to have is actually taking it out and doing the copying, cutting and pasting. I’m sure it would take off once everything is organized.
I have ot admit that I got the prepackaged Lapbooks from Tapestry of Grace for next year. I thought that would be one less thing for me to shelve – I hope it will be a great resource.

I have participated in co-op classes in which the students made lapbooks, to organize the information they were learning. The finished product is beautiful and worth keeping. I’ve never designed a lapbook myself – it looks daunting. How does one do it?
We are always working on a Lapbook or two or three..well…we are actually working on four. One for each kid and the next one will be on Egypt. I hope to get all the kids in on that one because we have signed up for an International Fair and have to present info on Egypt. So I am thinking of making a rather large Egypt Lapbook.
Doing a Lapbook is very easy. First pick a topic your child is interested in. Like Frogs. Then pick some information you would like your child to cover from that topic. Like, a frogs diet, Classification, Predators, Life Cycle, Habitats, Species and so on. Read books on frogs, watch videos, have frog legs for dinner ;-) Whatever works for your child. You can make your own mini books and have your child label the books and add information or you can buy prepared Lapbook templates from links provided in the previous post, up above. Put everything in your Lapbook. You will need colored File Folders and double sided tape and time to cut, if you have little ones.
My 4 year old is working on the ABC’s and loves it! Here is a link http://www.homeschoolshare.com/alphabet_notebook.php of materials we are using. Other Lapbooks we are working on currently are St. George, Mary, Mother of Jesus, The Rain Forest and Blackbeard. Interesting contrast between Mary and Blackbeard. This just shows how different my children are ;-)
