Show full calendarHomeschool Program: Beekeeping Series Tuesdays, May 11, July 13, & Sept. 28, 1-3:30p.m. In this program for children 8 and older, we’ll investigate the life cycle of bees, the social structure of a hive, and how a beekeeper manages a hive for honey. Children will use the beekeeping tools and be active participants in checking the hives, looking for eggs and larva, monitoring the honey flow, and seeing if we can locate the queen. In September, we’ll work together to harvest honey from the hives, giving the children a chance to use an extracting knife and work the extractor. Together we will strain and bottle the harvest. Wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. $45 per child for the series. Limit 10 children.
